do people with COPD have a different baseline (usually) in comparison to a patient who has no diseases or illnesses? ?

E.g. is it acceptable for them to have low oxygen levels compared to a ‘normal’ baseline. Thanks

Hypoxic drive in other words:  the higher the O2 saturation gets the less the COPD patient (with hypoxic drive) breathes.  Therefore, patients with COPD often have pulse oxs in the low 90s or sometimes as low as 88% & 89% & they function "normally" at those levels.
