More testing equals more confirmed cases.

Last time I checked, the US had given over 30 million tests compared to the country with the next highest amount of testing which was around 3 million.

It's hard to lockdown such a large and freeminded country.

It's because we tried to copy communist countries instead of doing it the American way of protecting our rights first or simultaneously.

America is too large to do it like smaller communistic countries.

Communist style lockdown was never and will never work here.

Conflicting messages and not sending out income replacement money fast enough is another reason.

Our medical officials are stupid. It's not realistic to think you can quarantine an entire country of billions to fight a virus as if it's just one wing of a hostpital.

And those other countries have to stay on lockdown indefinitely on order to maintain those results. For the long-term, reopening and riding the wave is the best course of action.

Lockdown can only be temporary and gives a false sense of success.

It's impossible to tell if that's true. They are counting all deaths of anyone who has had coronavirus as coronavirus. If you had coronavirus, got well and then had a car accident it is still going down as a coronavirus death. And the cases of coronavirus have risen for one simple reason: more testing is being done. There is no way to know if the cases have risen or not because the person could have already had it and just not been tested. Or they could have just gotten it. The information is faulty at best.

This is the first virus and only virus to come into the US that has become a divisive and polarizing issue. During Bush we had SARs,  Obama had to deal with H1N1, Zika, Ebola. None of these viruses divided America like CoVid-19. Bush & Obama really worked on trying to keep the viruses out of the country and they came here they worked to maintain it before it reached our land. A discussion in the previous administration was always, how do we discuss it with the public to have the public's cooperation? Public officials always treated this type of discussion very sensitively. Trump didn't overlook it but he now set a precedent for any future outbreaks to not have the support from the population we need. Trump's language was always to not have the public's cooperation. He minimized it and said go to work sick when things worsened he discouraged people to wear a mask because he thought it made him look bad. It was left to the state governors to have this discussion with their citizens even though this virus hit all 50 states. Trump left us all alone to ourselves to deal with it. No other Past President has ever just left it to us to deal with our own outbreaks.

For regular colds people stay home, other people wash their hands. It became political to wear a mask. Now we have anti-maskers, some have even threatened to cough on others. People protesting public safety measures laid out to us by having pool parties. It's Trump's attitude and the message he's sending to his supporters. No other President has ever handled a virus or epidemic the way Trump has. Trump sent the message that wearing a mask infringed on people's freedoms. That this was a hoax created by the Democrats. His attitude towards the virus from the start was indifferent. Trump made complying with the advice of health officials controlling the epidemic into a political issue. His followers mimicked his lead.

His followers are part of the public. Trump's allies in office decided not to enforce the public safety measure. Now 5 months since our first case, 13 states face not having the hospital capacity needed to support the spread of the virus. It's the public who failed us. Even though Trump says something we all have the freedom to listen to our public health officials but his supporters have been brainwashed to make a public health and safety crisis into a political matter. Our nation is facing a crisis and Trump managed to convince a large population to not just ignore the crisis but not comply. The US is now an example of a country that failed in containing this virus.

Anyone working in public health or public safety will say it's the public's cooperation that is key in maintaining and control an epidemic. Our own people and the public failed us. In terms of public health & public safety, this is a disaster. Sickness, epidemics & pandemics shouldn't be a divisive political issue. It needs to be a time where we all unifying to fight this thing.

All you people voting. Trump abandoned us and advised us against our own safety to protect his image.

Simple, Trump and his admin. chose to ignore very early intelligence warnings. Rather than stockpiling supplies, investing in massive early research, shutting down borders, and informing the public of the imminent threat; Trump chose to politicize the virus and call it a hoax. He repeatedly said  in early March it was under control and posed no threat. Now, the American public us paying the price in death and ongoing shutdowns. To this very day, Trump continues to downplay the need for masks which has led to massive spikes in Republican run states that follow his lead.  I feel very sad that the US is led by a madman

who values reelection over human life.

Not true. The US death rate is on par, or lower than most other nations.
