Do self proclaimed feminists commit the “no true Scotsman” fallacy frequently? If a subset of feminists are hypocritical = not feminists ?

I've said that about feminists before but I don't think it was committing the 'No true Scotsman' fallacy. Feminism is about gaining equality for women, therefore if you want women to be treated better than men then it's not equality and so you're not a feminist. Where as being a 'true Scotsman' has only completely subjective rules.

If you don't agree with the tenets of feminism you can't be one.  Words lose all meaning when people claim everyone is X. No, you aren't. That's not a fallacy, it's the definition of the word!

There's really more of a definition of who is and isn't Scottish than of who is and isn't a feminist. Ideas tend to be more subjective than nationality and heritage. Feminism runs the gamut from the conservative Christian who aims to be a fighter pilot to the godless anarchists currently burning down US cities.
