It is true that Harry waited for the one,  however Charles dithered and was manipulated by Mountbatten then his Grandmother and Camilla by this point was married to Andrew PB

Charles COULDN'T marry the woman (Camilla) he was in love with. Years before, Camilla had gotten tired of waiting for  Charles to formally propose, so she married another man, and she and her husband already had two children at the time Charles met and married Diana.

Don't forget: Charles is the Heir to the Throne. He always knew he HAD to marry somebody and beget children of his own. So, he proposed to Diana, she accepted, and he gave her the job.

Charles has loved many women, but, he met them at a time that he wasn't ready to marry. And, when he was ready to marry, some of the women didn't want that royal role,or royal life,(Lady Sarah Spencer and Anna Wallace). He did, eventually, marry the woman he loved--he is currently married to Camilla.

Charles did fall in love with Camilla Parker Bowles. She had been an old friend. She and her husband were royal family friends. The couple famously had that affair, which ended when Charles started pursuing Diana, and restarted after the marriage failed.

Charles was hard-pressed to find the right type of woman for the role of Princess of Wales. She had to be of good reputation, ready to have a family, support the monarchy.... Many women did not relish that royal role, the scrutiny of onlookers, the loss of a normal life. Diana outwardly met the requirements, Charles did love her, but she was not emotionally strong enough to withstand that life and Charles felt helpless and lost because he could not help her. The marriage failed, and Camilla re-entered Charles' life, first as a friend with a good listening ear, then as mistress.

It says so much about Charles’ character, and not in a good way, that at age 32 he asked a 19-year-old virgin to marry him — a girl  he wasn’t in love with — simply to achieve his goals.

    EDIT:

@Verulam 1:  If what you have commented below is to be believed, then that makes Charles look even worse — that he got married to a woman he didn’t love because he couldn’t stand up to others regarding one of life’s most vitally important decisions.

@Clo:  Respectfully, you do Charles no favours by serving as his apologist with your weak argument. If he couldn’t stand up for himself at age 32 and make the right decision about who he would marry, what does that say about how he will make decisions as a king? It speaks volumes about his weak character.

He needed to get on and marry and he was getting no younger. I don't think either of them went into it expecting the marriage to fail but hindsight is a wonderful thing. Harry's situation is completely different since it would make no difference constitutionally if he did not produce an heir.

Because lord Mountbatten pushed Charles into marrying Diana. Harry was probably told by his father not to make the same mistake he did.
