What knit hat can I wear that doesn't overheat my hair ?

I want to buy a knit hat but I heard they make your hair overheat.  What type of knit hats don't overheat hair. Also I prefer something cheap, I don't have much of an income.

Your hair is dead so it can't overheat. Your head, on the other hand, can and does overheat and that can be a serious health risk. Knit hats keep the head warm so they're better for cold weather rather than the heat of summer. Light cotton, straw, and raffia hats are lightweight and breathable so your head is less likely to overheat. Save the knit hats for cold weather. Bonus of waiting: by the fall the stores will have lots of knit hats and they won't be very expensive. Alternatively, learn to knit and knit one using inexpensive cotton yarn.

Any knitted hat is going to make your head hot and over heat your hair.
