    Partial pressure is the pressure that one component of a gaseous mixture would exert in the absence of other gases. Each gas in a mixture exerts a partial pressure described by the ideal gas law. The sum of the partial pressures of all components of a gaseous mixture is equal to the total pressure in the container.
