If the lesson was finished (had ended) four hours ago.  Passive voice is all.  someone undeclared is the one who did the finishing.  what was finished?  the lesson.

the lesson finished four hours ago. the lesson was finished four hours ago.  the lesson has been done for four hours, the lesson was over four hours ago (you missed it).

There are other ways to say the same thing, but as it stands, it is grammatically correct.

You could get rid of the passive voice. "We finished the lesson four hours ago."

The word was is not needed.
