Why do auto companies make non off road cars and cars that aren't all wheel drive?
An off road car can do everything a normal car can and go off road as a bonus why make anything else? And why make cars that aren't all wheel drive which is good for hard conditions such as snow?

Because the last thing the owner of a $50,000 off road vehicle is going to do is go off road.

Off-road cars cost more.
All-wheel drive costs more.
Only a small percentage of the driving population goes off road.
Southern states don't need all-wheel drive like northern cars.
Having it as an option favors car sales.

Because not everyone wants an off-road vehicle. Not everyone needs an off-road vehicle. And off-road vehicles are more expensive to make, more expensive to buy, more expensive to drive, and more expensive to maintain.
