What are the cons for using formica counter tops?

    They look cheap. You can't post form around a curve. 

    There are much nicer alternatives

    I have Formica countertops for close to 20 years. They still look great.   They clean easily.

    You can not set hot pans on it.  (Not a problem for me.)

    It is not trendy right now. In selling your home Formica countertops  will be a negative.

    They don't look as nice, are hard to repair and they don't last as long as other materials. You cannot place hot pans on them but this applies to all counter tops so I don't really see it as a con.

    They are not heat resistant

    Can easily be permanently scratched if wrong cleanser/sponge is used on it.

    Glue can fail.

    They can burn when hot items, such a pans, are put on them.

    They don't last as long as a natural stone like granite.
