Hard Drive wiped clean. Can I add Windows 10?

Replaced an old laptop with a new one. Best Buy transferred the data from the old one but then wiped the hard drive. Can I upload Windows 10 to this old, cleaned hard drive using the usb "Windows 10 creation tool"? (Will the wiped hard drive accept the Windows 10 this way or does it need to be somehow formatted and partitioned first?)

As one has already said, Windows will prompt you to create partions, but one caveat:  don't try to load this on a 2nd drive while the new drive is still in the machine.  Put the old drive in alone and windows will load perfectly.

as Windows 10 loads, it will "recommend" how to partition your hard drive. just click yes or whatever. it's all automatic.

The windows 10 usb tool will take care of the drive formatting in the install process.

Note: If the usb tool isn't setup for the correct boot configuration for your laptop it will refuse to boot to it and you will need to use the alternate usb windows 10 usb tool.
