How can I store almonds?

What is the best way to store roasted almonds?

Can UNOPENED almond be safe to store room temperature?

Do I need to refrigerate it after OPENING?

I would appreciate your help.

Think about this~ when you purchase a can of almonds do you get it from a refrigerator or from a shelf. If you buy it off a shelf then it is shelf stable and doesn't need to be in a fridge. Once opened, unless you are not going to finish the almonds in a timely manner, they do not need to be refrigerated.

You do not need to refrigerate almonds.  Ever.

When they are 'out' of their shells, I'd store them in a jar.

Still in their shells they are ok to store in an open bowl / dish.

If you want to keep almonds past their expiry date, freeze them. They will remain stable longer.

  • A unopened plastic bag is not a great defense against nuts going rancid. They’ll last for awhile. Personally, if I’m not going to use up nuts within a few weeks of purchase (like if I bought them as a snack or for a specific recipe) I put them in the freezer. They last forever. No freezer burn or anything.

You should store almonds in a airtight jar//container.
