    a) The area under the probability distribution must total to 1.

         Integrating the distribution gives (c/3)(x^3) from -3 to 3.

         Evaluating the limits gives (c/3)(27 - (-27) = (c/3)(54) = c/18.

         Therefore, c = 18.
