can diversity itself cause conflict and homogeneous societies be an advantage?

Sometimes cultures can have opposing views which leads to animosity when said people of cultures live together and conflict when one tries to push their culture on the other group

Countries are much more productive when everyone wants the same thing. That only happens in homogeneous societies.

Yes, of course diversity can introduce conflict - it almost always does.  Being homogeneous, however, doesn't eliminate conflict.  The reduction in conflict is inconsequential.  A quick look at the history of any homogeneous society bears that out...conflict galore!
