What should a portrait photographer know about body parts when posing?

Photographers take photos. They do not pose. The models pose. Portrait photographers take photos mainly of people's faces, not the whole body.

He - or she, of course - should know which body parts go well, or otherwise, with which model. For instance, I've heard tell that Claudia Schiffer looked good posing with amputated legs, spleens and eyeballs while Naomi Campbell complemented hands, spinal assemblies and left-buttocks. Hope this helped.

A portrait photographer needs to know how to accentuate the good bodily features while being able to hide the bad ones. This is done by posing, lighting and lens choices.
