They killed them because they were ordered to.  Hitler hated the Jews and anyone who did not have blonde hair and blue eyes.

Of course the people don’t want war. That is understood … But after all it is the leaders who determine the policy and it is a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, a parliament or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.

The Nazis actually killed more than 11 million people. 6 million of them were Jews. As to the reasons, they were either "enemies of the state" or "useless eaters".

According to the historians who investigated the claims, British historian David Irving and Mike King, to name just 2 of them, say that there is no evidence that anybody ever got gassed  David Irving has been beaten up, arrested and once imprisoned for over a year for denying the Holocaust.  But he sticks to his findings.  And he is certainly not alone.  There are others who cannot stand still for the lies. The International Red Cross says that there were 274,000 deaths in those camps, the result of starvation and disease.  The disease Typhus caused many deaths.  David Irving explains his findings on YouTube should you want to hear the 'other side' of the story.  Best wishes.

Hitler held a hierarchical order of peoples relevant to his plan for a thousand yr. Reich. The peoples he considered most inferior were targeted for elimination w/ his "final solution" as they interfered w/ his eugenics plan for a superior race.

"But even more: all at once the Jew also becomes liberal and begins to rave about the necessary progress of mankind. "

Conservative culture. The only way hitler could get everyone else to listen to him was to say that their problems were someone else's (jew's, slav's, black's etc.) fault. Once you start down that path you have to keep ratcheting up the pressure just to keep pace with "your people's" sicko needs. What's more, you've to come up with the "answer" before they think of it, or you're not a "leader" anymore.
