Different, but possibly not better.  How can we know? The French were not wiser or more saintly than the British, Dutch, Spanish and Portuguese colonial powers. The indigenous peoples were not more saintly or wiser than the colonists.

With respect due to the explorers, missionaries, habitants and fur traders, I don't think the French government got good returns from her colonies in mainland America. If France did get good returns, they were not used wisely. Too much spent on show at home under Louis XIII to XV (especially by Louis XIV)  Not enough investment on good farming in the colonies. They should have scrapped the seignorial system or scrapped the finery at home and not wasted the Treasury's money on it. They should have encouraged settlement over trapping fur. That would have been worse for the native Americans but better for the French.  It would have increased the population and thus increased increased the their hold of their colonies against the British. Fur fads come and go, but food is forever  The way things went, the animal population was on the way to extinction and the native trappers and European fur traders were nearly out of their jobs. Settlement among or beside the natives, better farming methods and interchange between both, and small quotas on fur pelts would have benefitted both. The Protestant vs  Catholic feud should have been ended too. All that hate was a waste of lives and energy.

America is the greatest country in the world and she's here to stay. I certainly don't blame the British and the French for having a hard time dealing with that. Being inferior isn't much fun.

The world would be a much better place if the English had crushed the French early in the hundred years war.

The French had no capability of doing such after the 1746 disaster trying to crush British colonial America.   They became so indebted that revolution was guaranteed to come.
