how do you discover kidney problems ?

Are kidney problems discoverable through blood tests ? or is it urine tests only? Also are there any symptoms that could indicate one needs to get their kidneys checked (pain or other..?)

thank you

Depends on the problem I would guess.

Pain, frequent urination, lack of urination, fever and flu-like symptoms (along with changes in urination or pain with urinating), pus or blood or other discoloration in urine. I believe blood tests are for more systemic diagnosis, urinalysis and imaging (ultrasound, MRI, CAT scan) would be more appropriate for specific kidney disease.
