A very few expensive and high quality gaming computers have a video card plugged into the motherboard.  It is a special sized one,  smaller than ones for desktops.  Some can be swapped out for better ones.  That is all that can be told without information on your laptop's make and model.

A few take advantage of external graphics card housings, power units, and monitor.  A connection to the laptop can be of several ways:

    Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C port

Expresscard slot, either 34 or 54mm

A cable to the motherboard's wireless adapter port.  Take that wireless board out and plug in the mini PCIe connector.  How you get the cable out of the laptop bottom varies.

Look up on Internet how to use eGPU techniques.  Quite expensive for the parts.

Usually, it isn't possible to upgrade a laptop's graphics card as most of the laptops have integrated graphics, which are not removable in a desktop PC. So, it entirely depends upon the laptop you are using.
