History help?

Where can the origins of constitutional democracy be traced (specifically list the city), what happened to democracy during the Middle Ages, where did rulers in the Middle Ages get their authority and who had political clout during this time, who were the English philosophers we studied about and what were their theories about government, what is a social contract, and specifically how did the social contract influence Thomas Jefferson and James Madison?

The origins of democracy (hint:  where did that word come from?)  can be traced back to Athens and the ancient Greeks.

There were no democracies in Europe, and the founders of the republic hated the idea of one being here.
