UK Covid threat level moves from 3 to 4?

On a scale of 1-5 with 5 being the worst case scenario, the United Kingdom has today moved from 3 to 4.

Should a second full national lockdown be imposed immediately in an effort to get it back down to 3 before it gets to 5?

My reading of the scale is that the only difference between level 4 and 5 is when it gets to 5 this represents a risk to the NHS becoming overwhelmed but the risk to public health in terms of human to human transmission is the same.

Has the time for talking stopped, is action needed?  OR is it time for us to just return to normal and accept that when it's all said and done we will have lost some citizens?

not a lockdown like last time, much of it was unneeded.

    1) Enforce all rules that already exist with an iron fist.

    2) Ban all but essential overseas travel.

    3) Pub opening hours restricted.  Table service only, maximum occupancy of pubs.

Not a full lockdown, partly because people would not stand for it, and it ruins the economy. Selective partial lockdowns in areas of the country and banning large groups will do a lot. Close places of worship and places of party.

It went up a few days ago. All it tells you is that the infection rates are on the rise. It does not prescribe a response. Anyone watching how people have been behaving since lockdown was eased could have predicted this - not enough care about social distancing, and probably forgetting all about the importance of hand washing. You are right about the NHS, but since the first wave there is more capacity available.

Thanks to the antimaskers and not giving a f**k by helping it spread. Shoot them all 😂

But you didn't ask a question.

Don't believe a word that Laurel and Hardy are saying i.e. Vallance and Whitty they both have hidden agendas. The whole thing is a farce and lockdowns do nothing to help. We should do as Sweden has done and get on with our lives. Of course the sheep will stay hiding behind the couch.

You are as thick as two short planks.

  • Yes, and it's all down to young idiots disobeying social distancing rules and having illegal house parties, plus mosque and church congregations, especially in non-Christian venues where the church is their life such as synagogues and Seventh-Day Activist churches with a large ethnic presence.

Lockdowns are a complete waste of time and are doing more harm than good. They are putting people out of business. The genii is out of the bottle. It is too late to try and stop it now.
