What is your motive for asking? Have you been offered a course at school/college? Do you have to take a language at school/college and you are deciding which language to take?
German is certainly a useful language in central and eastern Europe, but possibly not so much in other parts of the world.

If you plan on spending serious amounts of time in Central Europe, sure. If you want to claim the ethnicity, definitely.
Just learn at least one foreign language, one you like.
the easiest would be Esperanto, but pretty much any language that isn't Spanish or French will set you apart.
If you've never seriously learned a second language, stay away from the superchallenging ones: Arabic, Korean, Japanese, any type of ChineseSource(s): Dutch, speaking English, French, German and Esperanto
