Does it hurt for a penguin to lay an egg?

Probably not, compared to a kiwi. A kiwi's egg is 1/4 the size of the bird.

Yes, it does to some extent. Female penguins have been observed laying eggs. Their behaviour suggests that it is at best uncomfortable. She may actually be in pain.

I would imagine it is not comfortable and might hurt for a short time. Or i could be wrong and it is painless
