Can a lawn mower blade fly off? ?

Is there a chance that the lawn mower blade can fly off and slice through your legs?

Usually, there are two bolts holding them on, it's not likely.

Only if you loosen the nuts.

Not really likely, as long as you check the bolts from time to time.

Almost anything is possible but it is highly unlikely.

For most mower blades, the nuts are reverse threaded.  Meaning the rotation of the blade won't loosen the nut.  Just depends on the brand of the mower.  Plus the blade is in a recessed well which also helps prevent this.  It's not 100% but there's a lot that has to occur for something like your scenario to happen.

At the beginning of each season, I do a maintenance check on the mower - including the nut holding the blade.
