why is it called "essential" tremor when you dont want it and its NOT essential to survival?

it should be called unintended tremor or something instead.

    Your taking the word essential in the wrong context.  It does not mean what you think it does.  Essential in this way does not mean absolute necessity. Rather, when used as medical terminology it means of a disease with no known external stimulus or cause; idiopathic

    There are two definitions of the word essential.  One is that something is necessary for survival; the other is a medical term meaning that a condition has an unknown cause.  The doctors are using the second definition.
