Courses to become a Vet?

You have to attend veterinary school to become a vet. To attend veterinary school, you must first obtain a bachelor's degree. You can usually major in whatever you want, but most pre-vet students major in something like biology, zoology, or animal science. You should look at a vet school website to identify the prerequisite courses that are necessary for admission; they are generally the same, although specific vet schools may have their own particular requirements. There are only 30 vet schools in the US, and admission to them is highly competitive.

John's answer is correct. Unless you are a top student, you may want to instead consider becoming a veterinary technician, which requires a lot less education, which you can typically get at your local community college.

To be a veterinarian, one must graduate from veterinary school. Veterinary school is a post graduate school, which means one must have a 4 year degree before attending. To gain admission to vet school, one must have a very high GPA, while taking a course load which is heavy in sciences.
