Because you are already at 10^6 with 1,000,000. Add one zero to the number for each extra power.

    10^1 = 10

    10 ^2 = 100

    10^3 = 1,000

    10^ 4 = 10,000

    10^5 = 100,000

    10^6 = 1,000,000

    10^7 = 10,000,000 = 10 million

There is no why. That's just how it is. Facts.

    Because that's what it is.

Why do you believe it isn't?

Easy way to remember - when the base is 10, the power is how many zeroes there are.  So 10 to the 7th power is a 1 followed by 7 zeroes.  Or 10,000,000
