Despite the current president doing his utmost to stamp out dissenting opinions, I thought that there was still (just) the ability to express them in the US.

If someone wishes to be influenced by particular opinions from two people, one of which is American, and only listen to what they say, then that's fair enough. But I highly doubt this is suddenly going to cause an upswing in votes for Biden. When Obama came to Britain and lectured the UK to vote "No" to Brexit, that didn't have the desired effect. If you think that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are going to have a sweeping influence over the decisions of the American people, then that says more about America than anything else.

The Russians, however, actively indulged in a campaign of disinformation, financing and hacking to successfully ensure their choice got elected in 2016. Which they are continuing to do again. Somewhat different to the single opinion of the Sussexes.

What they said was pretty mild, neutral, and obvious. They didn’t even mention names. So naturally it is seen as an insult to Trump because it appeals to people’s better nature. As for interference, an endorsement, however implicit, is not interference. It’s just somebody giving their opinion. As to whether they should be stripped of royal titles, who gives a rat’s butt? It’s all pretense.

Didn't they already give up their title?  BUT == what about freedom?  Aren't they free to do what they want?  If they stil have titles it is fine with me,

  • 1) Nobody cares about what those 2 have to say

    2) Whatever they're saying or doing, they're doing openly, which is in contrast to what the Russians have been doing

    3) Point #1 still stands

    4) Their titles can't be stripped by the USA unless both of them decide to become American citizens and renounce their UK citizenship.
