    Find the slope

    m = rise/run

    m = (y₂ - y₁) / (x₂ - x₁)

    m = (-3 - 0) / (9 - -8)

    m = -3/17

    point slope form is

    y = mx  + b

    plug in m = -3/17 and either point to find b

    using point (-8, 0)

    0 = (-3/17)(-8) + b

    0 = 24/17 + b

    b = -24/17

    With m = -3/17 and b = -24/17

    the equation of the line is

    y = (-3/17)x - 24/17 <–––––
