What are the steps to solve for t?
X = (1-t^2) / (1+t^2)

Multiply both sides by (1+t²) and simplify:
x(1 + t²) = 1 - t²
xt² + x = 1 - t²
xt² + t² = 1 - x
(x + 1)t² = (1 - x)
t² = (1 - x)/(1 + x)
Take square roots and you're done. You need -1 < x <= 1 for a real solution, since the right side will be negative or undefined outside that interval.
