    Shaving is one solution.

The problem is that it's hard to shave off all pubic hair (it grows around the anus, too), and waxing salons aren't going to want to wax someone with lice.

Best to see a doctor for treatment. and follow his or her instructions for protecting the house from the lice.  Her sheets and nightclothes and underwear should be tossed and replaced. Anything else should be washed and dried in hot water and high temperatures, or dry cleaned.

Home remedies like hot baths and shaving cannot treat pubic lice effectively as it can survive ordinary soap and water. So, you need to decontaminate yourself, your bedding and your clothes to get rid of pubic lice. Use OTC shampoos and lotions like permethrin lotions on the affected area. Just wash your pubic hair if the lice infestation is mild. However, if the topical products ain’t effective enough, you may need prescription medicines as well. After successful treatment, if a few stubborn lice eggs still cling to your hairs, remove them with tweezers. If others in the family have contracted the lice, treat everyone simultaneously to avoid reinfection. Apart from this, you will have to decontaminate your house. Vacuum your whole house and clean the bathroom using a bleach solution. Wash towels, clothes and bedding in hot water and machine dry them at the highest setting. If a certain item of clothing cannot be washed or dry cleaned, seal it in an airtight plastic sack for 72 hours. If the lice survives all this, use stronger drugs like malathion (leave on the affected area for 8-12 hours), ivermectin (a two-pill oral dose that you may need to take again after 10 days) or lindane (leave it for four minutes before washing it off). Itching may be experienced for a couple of weeks as the body works through its allergic reaction to the bites. Consult your doctor if skin discoloration, drainage from wounds or swelling is noticed.

    1)  Buy some special shampoo from the pharmacy and use it as instructed.

    2)  Notify the rest of the family and/or her sex partner so they can also be treated.

    3)  Hot wash all sheets, blankets, doonas, pillows etc., along with underwear and other clothing. This needs to be done even when the label says cold wash or warm wash. Yes, it may cause shrinkage of some items.

    4)  Despite what some people have said here, She does not need to shave her pubic hair.

Totally remove the only environment public lice can live in .... pubic hair. They are totally adapted to living in pubic hair and can't survive anywhere else. Remove all of the hair and you remove the lice ...and thoroughly wash anywhere their eggs might have transferred to - underwear, nightwear, tight clothing, bed linen etc. I believe the eggs are normally attached to pubic hair so, once that has gone, the problem should be solved until she catches them again from whoever she caught them from this time. They can only spread by transfer from someone else.

Go to the pharmacy. By RID shampoo. Use it as instructed. Have her then shave her pubes. In five to seven days, use the RID shampoo again as instructed.

Also, wash all her underwear, her sheets, and any clothes she wears without underwear, like nightgowns or pajama bottoms, in hot water and then have her not use them for at least 15 days.
