"Insurance companies" sell the whole line of insurance products.  They would not be in business selling life only.

Source(s): Sold it for a while - life, health, etc.

Depends on the company.  Some could limit themselves to only selling life insurance.  However the licenses and processes need to sell life insurance is the same as selling most other types of insurance.  So usually if a company goes through the trouble and expense of setting up a life insurance business they will usually also sell other types of insurance. They may set themselves up with more that one name, and may selling life insurance as "Company A", but also sell other types of insurance as "Company B".

Do there is no one answer to this question.  Every company is different.
