Why was there a British Invasion in music but no Irish invasion?

Plenty of good artists come from Ireland: U2, Enya, Thin Lizzy, Van Morrison, etc.

Have you ever HEARD an Irish 'Country & Western band'?   Pubs in Manchester are full of them.  Loonies singing about driving a big truck full of peat or Romanian horsemeat down the lonely prairie highways.  From Co. Mayo to the Rosslare Ferry.

Because many of them although Irish are actually British eg Thin Lizzy and Van Morrison, both come from Belfast which is the British part of Ireland,as do many other bands.

Please. It's happening. We just don't use negative words like 'invasion'. Instead we use words like 'influence' and 'inspire'.

Irish people don't invade ....they subvert.

Van Morrison was a member of Them who are considered part of the British Invasion, hailing from Northern Island which is part of Britain.  There was a second British Invasion in the 80's but U2 are from Dublin and not really included and Enya sucks.

Those Irish performers have gotten their due.  But times were changing in the mid 1960s and so was the music tastes.
