Why isn't health insurance affordable?

America's overall health care costs are one of the largest rip-offs in our society today. The CEO's and other top executives have salaries well into the millions annually while many American workers sacrifice to pay 20% or more in Insurance costs and "uncovered" additional medical costs. Many of our doctors receive kickbacks for prescribing certain high-cost medications and how many of us had tests ordered that we didn't believe we really needed? All of this adds to the high cost of our insurance.

I guess it’s an attempt to reduce the population. Get rid of the poor so that Republican administrations can get rid of social programs that ‘burden’ the wealthy. A type of genocide. Just leave the rich people surviving and kill off all the poor people. I think it’s something like that.

Because NO-ONE addresses the root causes of the cost of healthcare. They just want to move the cost around and around, without cutting it.

Lobbyists. Paid interest who are pushing for their industries while American citizens don't assemble to put in their own lobbyists to fight Big pharma and other health special interests that want to profit off our sick, dying and unhealthy.

Everything is "affordable".  Just because you can't afford something the way you want it doesn't mean no one else can.  If you want to see insurance rates drop, get the federal government out of it, whatever it is.  Everything the federal government interferes in sees costs soar as quality plummets.

When pharmaceutical companies reach this sort of point in their evolution the only way for the average person to survive is absolutely free medical care like in England. Oh yes you hear them complain but they're just spoilt brats aren't they, never paying a penny for anything. The little old lady in America gets shafted by random co-pays as her insurance decides to gouge her occasionally on her deductible. People making less than $400,000 a year cannot make it sometimes.

The ACA (Obama Care) drove up premiums 40% on average depending where in the US you live.
