Can one high sodium day cause your face to be puffy?

I ate quite a bit of sodium today, I usually don’t, and I’ve noticed my face is pretty puffy.

Absolutely. I so rarely add salt to my food that one day of high sodium intake and I can see the difference the next day (puffy all over, especially my ankles). One way to help reduce that puffiness is to hydrate real well (plain water is best). The more water you drink, the more it will help flush the excess sodium out and any water being retained by your body.

Dehydration can cause blood vessels to enlarge that can lead to water retention, especially in the face causing it to be puffy. One of the main reasons for your face to swell up is the high content of salt in the body. Salt tends to retain water in the body that causes puffiness.
