Why is it hard to relate to positive music?

I have nothing but depressing type music on my ipod. Joy Division I have played over a million times. Pink Floyd.. just really dark kind of music.  When I hear positive music... like Justin Bieber, I just think you're lying to me.

Because I know the truth.

Justin Bieber will Never make you happy.

This may be reaching back a long way, but in the 1960s

Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass played some music that is honestly positive.

Try "Mexican Shuffle" to begin with.

There's plenty more where that came from.

How do you know it's not the gloomy music that's been lying to you all this time?

Take a listen to Roman Holliday's 1983 album "Cookin' on the Roof". It's such goofy, happy music you can't help but smile. It used to get me through the long slog of being a dishwasher in a restaurant with three full seatings on New Year's Eve.
