I was bitten by a horse a few years ago and it’s left a weird lump like think on my arm. I didn’t think anything of it until I was told I should get it checked out. Why would I need to get it looked at? What could the problem be if there is one?

Sometimes the muscle fibers under the skin are damaged and scarred from either a bit or a kick - I have a perfect hoof shaped lump on the front of a thigh, due to a nasty kick. It's not going to go away. It's just scarring.
If you've had this lump thing ever since the bite, but not before, it's probably muscle scarring. If you haven't, then have it checked out. Lumps for unknown reasons could be sarcomas (cancers of the soft tissues).
It might be a good idea to ask the doctor next time you're in to see one. Couldn't hurt.
