Colorblindness correction lenses?

Does anyone has experience with colorblindness correction lenses and would be willing to share their experience with me? I have a ten year old who is pretty significantly colorblind, I thought originally it was just red/green but he failed almost every section of the color test. I'd love to get him a pair of lenses that would allow him to see a wider range of color, however, I also don't have a ton of money to shell out. Are they worth it? Any particular brand?

My nephew got them when he was 11 (13 now).

he doesn't wear them all the time.  He has outside ones only,

He likes them but they are a novelty, not really the use we expected

My understanding, if you don't buy good quality, no sense in buying them ($225).
