Could be a wise choice, if you have the commitment & talents for it. Needed field, better pay than a number of other health-related vocational/technical level occupations, and not glutted as with so many more popular technician-level occupations.

Sure, if you want to be either a dental assistant or dental hygienist.  The schooling is relatively short and the job marketing is relatively good.  People need to have their teeth cleaned and various dental procedures, and that isn't going to change as long as humans have teeth.  That means the long-term outlook is pretty stable too.

There is a pretty strong job market for dental assistants and hygienists right now.  Hygienists are paid more, but more and more dental offices are using more assistants for that reason - they can pay them less.  Still, there are opportunities either way.

Yes. It is a hard program. But for only two years of study you would have a good career and very decent  salary.

Depends on what you mean by worth it. Considering how expensive a trip to the dentist is, I'd say it's very worth it. I'd strive for becoming an actual dentist and opening your own practice if you want to make the big money. If you're looking to fulfil a desire to help people, specifically in that field because it actually interests you, there's nothing wrong with dental assistant either.
