a) The area is = 0.25*0.25 = 0.0625m2.

P is atmospheric pressure = 101325 Pa.

The Force F = PA = 6332.8N.

b) The area given is = 100 in2.

P is atmospheric pressure = 14.7 psi

The Force F = PA = 1400 lb.
