What is the refrigeration principle of the refrigerator?

A cycle of; liquid expansion (reduction in pressure), evaporation to a gas, compression, condensing to a high pressure liquid.
Evaporation is what actually gets cold and takes in heat from the surroundings and this is used to cool air that is circulated through the storage area of the fridge. Condensing gets hot and this is done outside of the storage area of the fridge.
