Normally sausages are sold in packets of 8, unless you re buying from an independent butcher who sells them loose in which case he may sell you the number you require. If you need to buy 8, you could either cook the 2 spares to have with a salad or in a sandwich later, or freeze them [uncooked] for future use.

I seldom eat sausages now, but seem to remember from when I was younger and lived with my parents, that cold sausage made a suitable salad or sandwich ingredient.
