Why do I have to up grade to the new e-mail version?

You don't at all. Scam messages that request you to "upgrade" your email account must be ignored and deleted immediately. Never click on the links or attachments and give your personal information to the scammers or you can risk your account being hacked. Remember Yahoo would never send you unsolicited emails asking for your personal information.

Look again at the email you got. It is not from Yahoo or Verizon, but a scammer trying to steal your info.

You don't. That very likely is a phishing scam. Look at who sent the email. If it came from Verzion, that's spa ad may have malware or a virus in it. Do NOT click 9r tap anything in the email. Report it as spam and try to delete it.

Yahoo is using the most recent update. You have it each time you log into your account.
