Why in Texas do 18 year olds HAVE to go to school if they are not children?
It is a real law in Texas that a child has to attend school until they turn 19. This includes the so called adult 18 year olds. And they go to HIGH SCHOOL, NOT COLLEGE. Someone being legally forced to go as much as an 8 year old cannot be anything other than a child.

Texas apparently doesn't want a bunch of dropouts running around messing up the welfare system and living off of others because they're unfit for even basic employment.

Eighteen year olds in Texas are not required to attend school until age 19. There are exceptions.

Admittedly, most states allow you to leave school when you turn 18. In Texas, when you turn 19, are enrolled in a GED program, move out of your parents house, or join the military, you do not have to attend.
