Yes. As long as there is not separation at the fracture, it will not leak. Generally, what will fracture the pipe will also separate the surfaces because the restraining strength of the pipe material has been reduced due to the fracture, i.e. a stress concentration.

To reject mark of the beast, one needs to hide within a 10-15 people group without electronics/documents. Documents are from Satan; burn them. Electronics can be used to track you and to show the antichrist (even on old broken unplugged TV set from 1970's using Tesla's ether); forgive me. - Nuff SedLv 71 month ago
Yes, of course it's possible. We cannot possibly guess what KIND of pipe you're talking about and what might be inside or outside of it to leak. If you mean metal water pipes, cracked by freezing, then it obviously won't leak until the water melts. If you mean a low-pressure concrete pipe, then it won't leak because there isn't enough pressure for the slurry to penetrate the crack, although rinse-water may come through.

It is POSSIBLE to have a crack that doesn't go all the way through the wall of the pipe. Such a crack wouldn't leak. However, the crack most likely will expand and should be repaired before it gets worse.

Generally that is how you tell they are cracked...they leak...immediately. It matters if they are drain pipes(so empty air fills them most of the time) then who cares.? Pipes under pressure leak immediately.

Only if the inside of the pipe is coated with something keeping the liquid from leaking through the crack such as calcium. I have seen PVC drainage pipes where people have shot holes in them and eventually stopped leaking due to an abundance of gypsum, AKA calcium sulfate, in the water building up around the hole and plugging the hole up!

What kind of pipe? If house-related, wrong forum. Go to the Mintenance & Repair forum in the Home & Garden category. This is Cars & Transportation.
