Most of them are melted down into fibers, used to insulate jackets. Thy don't have the loft of down but are much cheaper.

it is a stock pile which is ready to choke the very existence of living beings on earth. unfortunately they are not recycled. now with covid , the additional burden of disposable face covers and masks is frightening

They're dumped into the ocean when nobody is looking. Recycling is too much like work for liberals.

Depending on where you life they may be recycled, however the chances are high that they will be incinerated as plastic bags may be made from several types of plastic that can't be mixed for recycling purposes, not to mention all the bubble wrap and other plastic films people sneak into the collection points, as it's too expensive to sort the bags. I'm okay with burning them in modern incinerators for energy production or district heating as they have a high caloric value (they give off a lot of heat) and I'd rather they were burned than end up in the ocean or even in fields where livestock end up eating them.
