one main factor is living in a country like the United States. It's such as dysfunctional culture that any sane individual is likely to fall prey to depression sooner or later. Probably due to the fact that this is such a blatantly materialistic culture that is so lacking in spirituality....which is not necessarily the same as "religion" by the way. So we have a bunch of people here who keep chasing after the next shiny object, or maybe don't even have the money to do that, and when they acquire that next shiny object they find out that it didn't make them happy anyway. So they try again, and keep having the same result. After a while, they just feel this overwhelming emptiness. And I also think there are other things leading to depression, such as coming from an abusive or broken family (or both), there's seasonal affective disorder type depression, and other varieties. And then if you take Big Pharma psych drugs, not only do they not work, but they've been shown to induce a long term low level chronic depression called "dysthymia" which might even be worse than the original depression, which can often resolve on its own if you don't start taking neurotoxic antidepressant drugs.

Examination proposes that downturn doesn't spring from basically having excessively or excessively little of certain cerebrum synthetics. Or maybe, there are numerous potential reasons for wretchedness, including flawed temperament guideline by the cerebrum, hereditary weakness, unpleasant life occasions, meds, and clinical issues.

It has three causes: DNA, circumstance and a mixture of both. Most cases (90+%) are both.
Too little serotonin and the 'right' upbringing (emphasis on diet) make depression.
Books are written on the subject. No one here can adequately explain with so limited a forum.

Chemical imbalances in the brain? What leads to those imbalances? Grief, sadness, hopelessness, bad experiences, etc.

A spirit of fear. Sin of ancestors causes ancestral curses because the spirit of fear comes down generation after generation.

The way we think about the stuff that might be related to ourselves or the stuff related to us can become a major reason for depression.
