Of course it’s a sport. I assume you’re American. American sports ( apart from your football which is a just an inferior version of rugby), are all adapted from English schoolgirl games , basketball / netball, baseball / rounders , hockey .

I think Football should remove itself from the Olympics the gauge of what is or isn't sport.

The Olympic Committee begged FIFA to compete just to give the Olympics mass appeal/kudos so they agreed but made it an under 23 contest so depriving them of the best players unlike Tennis and Basketball(basically Netball to us Brits like Baseball is Rounders mainly played by Females).
