Debt collection/ jail ?

After a night out I spend 3k on a online casino app, I called my bank and got a stop payment before the money came out. Few weeks later I got a notice from Telecheck who process the payment Internal debt collection agency agency for unpaid electronic fund transfers. If I don’t pay it back am I going to jail?

Update:

I have tried to workout a payment plan. The rep said because the way the debt occurred a payment plan is not a option

Of course you are.  You committed fraud.  And they are ready to prosecute you.  If you don't have 3k to spend, then don't spend it.  And don't stop payment like that again.  That's not what a stop payment is about.

You can't be jailed for debt.  You CAN be jailed for fraud.  The casinos deal with this issue very regularly - and, yes, they ask for prosecution to the full extent of the law.  I'd find a way to repay the money.

They could press criminal charges for theft/fraud. You purposely stopped payment on a charge that was not fraudulent. But they’ll more likely garnish your wages and ruin your credit. I suggest you just pay it ASAP. I hope you learned a lesson from this. Don’t gamble if you’re not prepared to pay for your losses.

If they have you charged with fraud, you will go to prison, but most likely they will just sue you and have your future wages garnished until you pay the debt plus the legal fees that it will take to sue you.

Well, if you cant afford to pay it all at once, you'll probably just have to work out a payment plan. The end goal of debt collection is getting their money, they dont make anything by sending you to prison
