Why did so many people travel internationally to opposite ends of the world during the 2010s and not the 80s or 90s?
Especially given that during the last decade you could easily explore all sorts of regions around the world via the Internet for example on YouTube, Google Street View, Wikipedia, Expedia, etc.

Just that. The Internet came out and more people from around the world started to connect and wanted to know more about each other's cultures personally.

Because flights and travel opportunities were cheaper / more widely available, as was the concept of doing so.
