Is it okay to wash skin with shampoo in replacement of a soap?

I use a shampoo instead of soap when washing face and even hand-washing clothes. I'm reluctant to put a laundry detergent on hands. So I always use shampoo that I think is safe on not only hair but also skin in most cases. Can a shampoo be substitute for soap and detergent ?

YEs, of course. I use shampoo to hand wash delicate items, also. Consider that the pioneers only had harsh lye soap- for clothes, body, hair, dishes - everything. It's the manufacturers who want to convince you that you need a different soap for each thing.

Yes but don't do the reverse.Shampooing hair with soap dries it out.

You use shampoo on your head and it cleans your scalp. so why not?
